So, as I write this blog, many of you will be working from home, self isolating or even poorly. These are times, the likes of, many of us have not seen. For some, it may mean being stuck indoors with no company and little motivation. It is important during these times to not only think of physical health but mental health too. Having too much time on their hands can be detrimental to some members of our community. I have put together some tips to keep you going over these difficult and unknown times. We’ve nearly all got devices now, so there should be no reason why you can’t stay in touch with friends, colleagues or neighbours. Use Skype, FaceTime or Zoom to catch up, especially on those living alone! Enjoy a gathering or quiz night with friends on one of the many platforms available such as Zoom. Catch up on a good book/Kindle, when was the last time you had this opportunity?! Watch that boxset you never thought you’d get time to watch. Keep a diary or journal of your experience – it’ll be something to look back at! Do some of the jobs you’ve been putting off like clearing out your wardrobe ready for the summer ahead. Dig out those old board games, switch the TV off and enjoy – no fighting though! Get out in your garden if you have one. The weather is glorious! Bet you’ve forgotten what it looks like! Sitting around for days on end can take its toll on your physical health too. But…..there are a lot of things you can do to keep fit and active during this time. Always make sure that you are medically fit to exercise. If you have access to YouTube, there are a million online exercise classes available to try at home. From yoga to HIIT, Pilates to circuits, there will be something that you can do. Just make sure you have a safe place to do it. Why not try making your own HIIT class up for the family? We would love to see the pics! We will publish the best ones! If you have a garden, the opportunities are endless. Take a light jog around it to warm up, use a bottle of water as a weight and do a mini gym session. Get the kids involved in these sessions too, it will help burn off some of their energy. There are many websites with lots of suggestions for yourselves or the kids, so check them out! If you need any exercise ideas, don’t hesitate to contact us, we can help or out you in touch with people that can! A lot of people may start to suffer aches and pains due to being less active, if any of those worry you, we are just a phone call away and can even do a virtual assessment and provide rehab plans! Most of all, stay safe, look out for each other, we are all in this together!
