Rehab plans are very individual, well, at least they should be! Every injury, although categorised and grouped in a certain way is different for everyone. Our bodies all react in different ways and heal at different times. Rehab can be about progression, but also regression.
When the text books say you should be at a certain point, sometimes that's
sooner for some and later for others.
When we write a rehab programme, its individual to you. We don’t like to use a generic list of exercises, precisely for the points already mentioned.
We work closely with you with regards to pain, strength, range of movement, ease of movement, psychological barriers, fear of re-injury and return to sport. Our aim as always is to get you back to doing what you love, be that a sport or hobby. We want to see you past just your activities of daily living.
Rehab plans are individualised based also on your time available and your ability, so its important that we get that prescription just right. If we give you too much to do, compliance will fall, after all we want you to complete it to get better!
Part of this process is also about education. We find that once people understand what is going on with their body and why we give particular rehab and in certain orders, recovery is much quicker. Conquering the mind is just as important!
Always stick to your rehab plan, ask as many questions as you need, feed back to us on how its going and together we can set small goals for you.
