Sports Therapy is an aspect of healthcare that is specifically concerned with the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum levels of functional, occupational and sport specific fitness. Sports Therapists are all qualified in remedial sports massage and pitch-side first aid.
We work as part of a multi disciplinary team to provide the management and rehabilitation for sport and recreational participants regardless of age and ability.
We can assess and treat many injuries from:
- Muscle strains
- Ligament sprains
- Musculo-skeletal disorders
- Sports Injuries
- Postural pain
- Muscle imbalances
- Restricted joint movement
- General aches and pains
We use techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisations, stretching and strengthening, and heat and ice treatment. We give you a tailor-made rehabilitation programme where necessary
What do I wear?
Something that you feel comfortable in! We do need to assess joints properly so shorts and a T-shirt is preferable.
How long is my appointment?
Appointments are 60 minutes long.
Am I given exercises to do?
If your condition suggests that home exercises will help, you will be given a home exercise plan along with advice on how to, and when to carry it out.
